Josiah James
Poised to assume starting PG role
August 12, 2019
James is in position for a big role right out of the gates next season for the Volunteers, Emily Caron of Sports Illustrated reports.
James was the top recruit for the Volunteers in the offseason. The 6-6 point guard from Charleston averaged 29.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 5.3 blocks, and 4.9 assists per game in his senior season at the high school level. James will likely fill in the starting point guard role, which was vacated Jordan Bone, who left for the NBA. Fifth-year senior Lamonte Turner should serve as his backcourt mate. James still needs to work on his outside shot, but his size and passing could make him a tough matchup for other point guards in the SEC.
