Hurtado announced Tuesday via his personal Instagram account that he has committed to Mercer, joining the program as a transfer from Bryant.

He'll have one year of eligibility left entering 2022-23, but Hurtado could petition the NCAA for a hardship waiver that would grant him a seventh year of eligibility in 2023-24 after he missed extensive time due to injuries during his first three years of college at UAB. Hurtado spent the past two seasons at Bryant and averaged 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 0.8 steals in 26.1 minutes per game while starting in 27 of his 32 appearances in 2021-22.
