Abercrombie saw limited run in his 17 appearances at Boise State, and after essentially getting phased out of the rotation, he entered the transfer portal almost immediately after the 2019-20 season abruptly came to a conclusion. While he joins a program projected to finish near the bottom of the C-USA standings, Abercrombie will instantly fill an area of need for the Owls. Nobody who saw meaningful minutes in the frontcourt down the stretch of last season has returned to the program, so Rice will rely heavily on a class of transfers to get the job done. Abercrombie will ultimately end up competing with the likes of Tre Clark, Max Fiedler and Malik Ondigo for a starting spot at either the four or five.
