Simmons signed with an agent in April and will head for the professional ranks, Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Simmons already has 129 games (121 starts) under his belt at the collegiate level, so there wouldn't have been much to gain by coming back for a bonus fifth season of eligibility. The 6-10 center averaged 10.0 points on 64.2 percent shooting to go along with 6.0 rebounds and a career-best 1.9 assists in 2020-21. He also improved his free-throw shooting to a career-high 68.0 percent.
