2019 Tournament PreviewThe Hawkeyes enter the NCAA Tournament losers of six of their last eight, including a pounding by Michigan in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals. Iowa is excellent offensively but doesn't play much defense. The Hawkeyes rank 15th in KenPom's offensive efficiency but 115th in defensive efficiency, the largest discrepancy of any offense in the top 15. Led by 6-9 junior Tyler Cook (14.9 ppg, 7.9 rpg), who shoots 53.8 percent on 2-pointers, the Hawkeyes average 78.3 points per game (40th). Three guards drill from long range -- 6-6 freshman Joe Wieskamp (10.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg) hits a team-high 42.2 percent; 6-5 junior Isaiah Moss (9.1ppg) makes 41.5 percent; and 6-1 junior Jordan Bohannon (11.3 ppg, 3.4 apg) is good on 38.5 percent. A 6-11 sophomore, Luka Garza (12.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg) helps control the middle. Iowa also does a good job of getting to the foul line, ranking 11th nationally at 24.3 free throws per game, which should come in handy in the tournament.
