2020 Tournament PreviewSaint Mary's lost to Gonzaga (for the third time this year) in the WCC tournament final but earned an at-large berth with a NET ranking of 31 and KenPom ranking of 40. Non-conference wins against Wisconsin, Arizona State and Nevada helped the case, and the Gaels also beat BYU in OT. Senior guard Jordan Ford (21.9 ppg) is the key, as he rarely comes off the court, averaging 38 minutes a game (7th in the nation). Ford leads three sharpshooters from the three-point line where he shoots 41.1 percent. A 6-8 junior, Malik Fitts (16.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg) hits 40.8 percent from long distance while 6-6 senior Tanner Krebs (9.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg) shoots 39.1 percent. Thanks to the three-point shooting (5th in the nation at 38.7 percent), the Gaels rank 16th in offensive efficiency (per KenPom). They also protect the ball with the sixth-lowest turnover rate in the country. Saint Mary's can compete with most teams, though when tested against one-seeded Dayton - its likely second-round opponent - on a neutral court in December, the Gaels fell by 10 points.
