2025 Tournament PreviewAfter closing the season on a 23-1 run and running away with the Big 12 regular season title, coach Kelvin Sampson has led the Cougars to their third consecutive NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed. Baylor transfer LJ Cryer (15.3 ppg) is one of the most underrated guards in the country in his second year with the program, while Emanuel Sharp (11.8 ppg) and Milos Uzan (10.9 ppg) provide secondary backcourt options. All three shoot greater than 40 percent from the perimeter for a team that ranks fourth nationally in three-point shooting percentage. Houston is once again one of the most defensively sound teams in the country, sporting the No. 2 mark in KenPom's efficiency rating. A frontcourt led by J'Wan Roberts (11.1 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and emerging freshman Joseph Tugler (5.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg) hold opponents to the fourth-lowest shooting percentage on two-point baskets. With virtually no holes and an outstanding 9-3 Quad 1 record, Houston could very well return to the Final Four for the first time since 2021, when it lost to the eventual national champions.
