Announces retirement
Mitchell informed Winnipeg Friday that he is retiring from professional football.
ANALYSIS
Mitchell had just signed with Winnipeg in February and will leave the sport without ever actually having played a real snap for the team. He tore his Achilles while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during a preseason game in 2019 and was eventually cut after going through training camp the following year. It's an unfortunate circumstance for Mitchell as he could've had a bright future in the CFL at just 28 years old.
