Signing with Blue Bombers
WRWinnipeg
April 14, 2022
Saunders signed a two-year deal with Winnipeg on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Saunders was previously placed on Ottawa's retired list after he was involved in a serious car accident in May of 2021 that kept him out of the 2021 campaign due to injuries suffered in the crash. The 29-year-old made a full recovery from these previous injuries and was engaged in discussions with multiple CFL teams before signing with the Blue Bombers. Saunders last played a full season with the Tiger-Cats in 2017, recording 76 receptions for 1,170 yards and four touchdowns, before hauling in 45 catches for 739 yards and two touchdowns over nine games before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the subsequent season. The former Oklahoma Sooner was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and could once again be a highly-productive player after making a full recovery.
