May 4, 2021
Burt was selected by the Tiger-Cats with the first overall pick in the 2021 CFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Burt was a late addition to the draft after he spent the 2020 season on the practice squad for the New England Patriots. The 24-year-old played four seasons as a tight end at Boston College and totaled 23 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns during that time. He was primarily used as a run blocker in college but developed more as a receiver last year, Chris O'Leary of CFL.ca reports. Burt signed a three-year contract with Hamilton after he was drafted, and he could serve as a fullback or in a receiving role to begin his time in the CFL.
