The CFL has ordered the Alouettes to release Manziel and will not allow any other teams to sign him, Chris O'Leary of CFL.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Citing that Manziel had not followed the rules set forth by the league, the CFL has forced Montreal to let go of the quarterback and have informed other clubs they will not allow them to sign him. Manziel was playing in the league in the hopes of returning soon to the NFL, where he played with the Cleveland Browns but was plagued by addiction and a bipolar disorder that forced him away from the game and into treatment. In his one season in Montreal, the former Heisman trophy winner completed 64.2 percent of his passes with 1,290 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight games. Unless he now chooses to move on to the new AAF or the soon-to-form XFL, Manziel's football career could be forced to come to an end.
