Ellis was among the undrafted NFL free agents in 2019 to find a home with a squad for camp, participating with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he was ultimately unable to secure a spot on the regular-season roster. He'll try his hand at the Canadian iteration of the game in 2020 after running for 1,026 yards and 10 touchdowns on 215 carries (4.8 YPC) in his final year at the University of Virginia in 2018.
