Nico Iamaleava News: Struggles in UCLA debut
Iamaleava was 11-for-22 passing for 136 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 43-10 loss to Utah. He also had 13 rushes for 47 yards.
While Iamaleava finished as UCLA's leading rusher, the former Tennessee standout failed to get anything going against Utah's imposing defense. Coach DeShaun Foster took some risks on fourth down a few times, but the Bruins couldn't even manage the one yard needed to advance the drive multiple times. Beyond Iamaleava's scrambles, the Bruins couldn't establish a running game, which limited Iamaleava's ability to outsmart the UCLA secondary through the air. The team faces New Mexico next week, and Iamaleava must use the weaker opponent as an opportunity to work out the kinks.
