Ty Simpson News: Named starting quarterback

Simpson has been named Alabama's starting quarterback, Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reports.

Simpson has been the frontrunner for the Crimson Tide's starting role since the spring, and he'll now officially be the QB1 heading into the season. The 6-foot-2 quarterback has thrown for just 381 passing yards and rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with Alabama. He'll finally get the chance to show what he's capable of beyond a backup role with junior eligibility this campaign.
