Howard is undergoing surgery to address a serious oblique injury and will likely be out for the season, Matt Moscona of LouisianaSports.net reports.

Howard suffered an injury in the Ragin' Cajuns' season opener and was already ruled out for Week 2 before news of his surgery broke. Per Kevin Foote of The Baton Rouge Advocate , he won't be able to throw for 6-8 weeks, leaving very little time to ramp up before the season ends. Regardless, Daniel Beale should be under center for Louisiana-Lafayette while Howard is out. Howard logged 88 yards and an interception on 10-for-22 passing before sustaining the injury.
