Changes course, declares for 2017 NFL Draft
Davis (knee) has opted to declare for the 2017 NFL Draft rather than return to SMU for a sixth year, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
ANALYSIS
There was plenty of competition awaiting Davis if he was to return to SMU for his final year given that Ben Hicks performed ably last season and Arkansas transfer Rafe Peavey is also expected to push for the starting role. Davis, who missed all but one game last year with a knee injury, is a solid athlete with a strong arm. That said, his stature (6-0, 214) raises questions about his ability to stick at quarterback at the next level. According to Rapoport, Davis will work out at SMU's upcoming Pro Day on April 4.
