Steps away from football
Head coach Scott Frost said Friday that Bryant has decided to step away from football citing the condition of his knee, Evan Bland of The Omaha World-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Bryant was expected to take on a sizable role in the Huskers' offense this season after missing a majority of the 2017 campaign due to a knee injury. The running back underwent surgery on his knee in October and claimed to be feeling "100 percent" around the middle of the summer, but clearly something just hasn't been right. With Bryant out of the fold, Maurice Washington will likely see an increase in playing time alongside Greg Bell, as Nebraska is expected to utilize a committee in the backfield.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Bryant didn't take long to make his presence felt in the Nebraska backfield, running for 299 yards and two scores in the first two games of 2017. Unfortunately, lingering knee problems prevented him from suiting up for the rest of the year and he ended his season with those numbers. He remained limited during spring practice, and the Huskers added transfer Greg Bell to the mix of what was a lackluster rushing attack last season following Bryant's injury. Even if he's healthy to begin 2018, there's a decent chance Bell could factor into a timeshare situation.
