Southern Mississippi's game against Appalachian State this week has been canceled, so Griggs has over a week to get reacclimated to the team and compete for the starting job. Redshirt sophomore Jack Abraham has done well in Griggs' absence with six touchdowns in two games, but Griggs being back in the fold could shake things up. The competition figures to play out throughout next week, but for now, Griggs has his work cut out for him in terms of winning back the job right away.
