Joins father at Northern Colorado
McCaffrey announced Sunday via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to FCS Northern Colorado, joining the program as a transfer from Michigan.
ANALYSIS
After falling behind Joe Milton and Cade McNamara on Michigan's depth chart heading into the 2020 season, McCaffrey opted out in September and began exploring transfer options. Though McCaffrey likely had some FBS offers on the table, he dropped down a level so that he could join his father, Ed, who is the head coach at Northern Colorado. McCaffrey will be able to compete immediately for Northern Colorado, which will hold a modified non-conference schedule in the spring. Heading into the fall, McCaffrey will still retain two years of eligibility.
