Steele Jantz

Jantz enters camp competing for the starting quarterback job with sophomore Jared Barnett. Jantz won the competition to start 2011, but he stumbled as a starter and lost his job to Barnett, who generally made Iowa State more effective. The two play a slightly different style, as Barnett is a better runner while Jantz might be a bit more skilled as a passer. If he does win the starting job, he could have value in early, non-conference games against Tulsa and Western Illinois.
