Out against Clemson
November 30, 2019
Edwards (knee) will not play Saturday against Clemson, David Cloninger of The Charleston Post and Courier reports.
ANALYSIS
This is an unfortunate end to Edwards' South Carolina career as a knee injury will keep him sidelined for his final collegiate game. Xavier Legette and Chad Terrell should see increased targets in his absence.

Edwards might be better than he gets credit for, and with star wideout Deebo Samuel off to the NFL there's an opportunity for Edwards to prove it in 2019. The three-year standout and former standout recruit has a WR1 build at a listed 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, and for his career he's turned 285 targets into 163 catches for 2,229 yards and 16 touchdowns. With quarterback and fellow senior Jake Bentley around for the entire ride, the hope is that their extensive history allows them to hit the ground running in what could be a breakout season for both.
Edwards is a big receiver who battled an assortment of injuries during his freshman campaign with the Gamecocks. Still, the 6-foot-3 wideout managed 44 catches for 590 yards and four touchdowns despite playing hurt for most of the 2016 season. Following offseason surgery for a sports hernia, Edwards has been deemed healthy and appears poised to make an impact opposite the speedy, versatile Deebo Samuel. The knowledge that sophomore Jake Bentley will be starting under center should certainly aid Edwards and the rest of the South Carolina wide receiving corps as well.
