Tyrrell Pigrome
Maryland Terrapins
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Pigrome's 2017 season lasted all of three-plus quarters, suffering a torn ACL late in the Terps' season-opening victory over Texas. He remained on the sideline during Maryland's spring practice but is expected to rejoin the team when it retakes the field for fall camp. Piggy fared well in his brief stint under center after seizing hold of the starting job over freshman Kasim Hill out of fall camp last season, but he will likely prepare for another round of competition with Hill in 2018. Should he win the gig again, it's worth noting he won't have star receiver and target hog D.J. Moore -- who entered the 2018 NFL Draft -- at his disposal. Read Past Outlooks
In portal but likely to stick around
February 19, 2019
Pigrome has entered his name into the NCAA's transfer portal but is expected to remain with Maryland for his redshirt junior season this fall, Jeff Ermann of 247Sports.com reports.
Pigrome is the second Maryland signal-caller currently in the transfer portal, joining Kasim Hill (knee). Hill slotted above Pigrome on the depth chart before suffering a season-ending ACL tear, resulting in Pigrome earning the nod for the final two games of 2018. Pigrome ended up making appearances in 11 of the Terrapins' 12 contests as a redshirt sophomore, completing 37 of 67 attempts (55.2 percent) for 561 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while adding 159 yards and a score on the ground. Assuming he elects to stick around and Hill departs, Pigrome isn't expected to rank as anything more than the team's second-string options after former Virginia Tech signal-caller Josh Jackson -- one of the top quarterbacks on the transfer market -- announced Monday that he would continue his career at Maryland. Jackson will join the Terrapins in fall and should be viewed as the heavy favorite for the starting job.
