MacVittie makes sense for new Head Coach Les Miles as he recruited him when he was at LSU. MacVittie struggled for a couple of years at Pittsburgh before finding some success at a junior college where he's ranked as one of the nation's top junior college pro-style quarterbacks by recruiting sites. Kansas' offense will be a bit of a mystery in Miles' first year and it's very likely they lean on their strong offensive line and run-game led by superstar Pooka Williams. In contention for top job

Kansas offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon said in December that MacVittie and Miles Kendrick are the most likely candidates to start at quarterback for the Jayhawks in 2020, Benton Smith of reports.
Both signal-callers will have to wait until fall camp to compete for the top job after Kansas cancelled its spring program in light of the coronavirus pandemic. MacVittie, an incoming redshirt senior, was intercepted on his lone passing attempt in 2019, when he served as the No. 3 option on the depth chart behind starter Carter Stanley and backup Manny Miles, both of whom have since exhausted their eligibility.
