Skylar Thompson
QuarterbackQB
Questionable
Injury Shoulder
Est. Return 8/1/2021
2021 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson will return for a rare sixth year at Kansas State after sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury in the team's third game in 2020. A week berfore the injury, Thompson had a game for the ages with 334 yards passing and four total touchdowns, including three rushing scores in Kansas State's surprising 38-35 upset of the Sooners. The super senior will have some fantasy appeal with 19 career rushing scores in 27 games to go along with 25 touchdowns versus just nine interceptions. If the Wildcats' offense can find a groove in 2021, Thompson's dual-threat ability and experience gives him some serious upside. Read Past Outlooks

Shoulder
April 27, 2021
Thompson (shoulder) was able to throw in 7-on-7 drills during spring practice, Max Olson of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Thompson is ahead of schedule even though he wasn't a full-go during spring practice. Look for Thompson to be 100 percent by fall camp, at which point he will likely have to beat out Will Howard to reclaim the starting job.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2020
Entering the season as a confirmed starter, Thompson will showcase his dual-threat ability to new head coach Chris Klieman and offensive coordinator Courtney Messingham. A dual-threat quarterback is nothing new to Klieman and Messingham as they had Carson Wentz at North Dakota State. If Thompson can start the season like he ended last year with four total touchdowns against Iowa State, he will have a spot on fantasy rosters.
Thompson isn't going to light it up through the air as he only exceeded 200 yards passing on six occassions and never broke the 300 yards passing mark in 2019. Although he is a low volume passer, he does have some utility as a runner with 114 carries for 405 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. The Wildcats will return four of their top five pass-catchers, however, will have a young offensive line and inexperienced running backs which could mean that Thompson leans on his legs a bit more during the upcoming season.
