2018 Fantasy Outlook
Jackson had a minor eligibility scare earlier in the spring, but he’s been cleared to remain on the team and he’s expected to be under center for the season opener. He put up outstanding passing totals last year as a freshman, throwing for 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns to nine interceptions, and he tacked on 324 rushing yards along with six scores. The Hokies rank near the middle of the pack with regard to their passing attack, averaging 240.9 yards per game through the air in 2017 (ranked 56th in FBS) which is likely to provide Jackson with plenty of opportunities to make plays. In addition, Virginia Tech’s aggressive up-tempo offense figures to benefit the young gunslinger. Read Past Outlooks

Lower Leg
February 18, 2019
Jackson (lower leg) announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he's transferring to Maryland.
ANALYSIS
After missing the majority of the 2018 season due to a broken leg, Jackson was one of several Virginia Tech players to enter the transfer portal over the winter. Jackson never seriously entertained a return to the Hokies and instead opted to continue his career at Maryland, where he should represent the leading candidate to take over the team's unsettled quarterback situation. Jackson is set to earn his degree from Virginia Tech in May, so he'll join Maryland for fall camp with immediate eligibility for the next two seasons. Jackson, who accrued a 25:10 TD:INT and rushed for seven more scores during his 16-game career at Virginia Tech, will likely still have to compete for the top gig even though he's the most accomplished passer in the quarterback room. Kasim Hill (knee) has entered the transfer portal and isn't expect to return to Maryland, leaving Max Bortenschlager (ankle), Lance LeGendre and Tyrrell Pigrome as Jackson's chief competition.
