D'Eriq King
Houston Cougars
Injury Knee
2018 Fantasy Outlook
King followed the Greg Ward blueprint of starting out at receiver for the Cougs only to supplant a high recruit at quarterback. And, like Ward, King proved to be a natural. He took over in October and completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,238 yards, six TDs and two picks. King also proved to be a rushing threat with a nose for the end zone, racking up eight rushing touchdowns. King won't have his top wideouts from last season, but he's more experienced and will be the do-it-all threat in Houston's offense. Read Past Outlooks
Out for rest of season
November 16, 2018
King will miss the remainder of the 2018 season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee in Thursday's game against Tulane, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
This is devastating news for King and the Houston program after the quarterback sustained this injury on a non-contact play late in the first half of Thursday's victory. King had been one of the top performers across the entire country this year, totaling 2,982 passing yards, 674 rushing yards and 50 combined touchdowns to just six interceptions. True freshman Clayton Tune and graduate transfer Quinten Dormady are expected to step up in King's absence, though it appears Tune will get the first crack after coming in during the second half of Thursday's outing.
