Taking name out of transfer portal
December 2, 2019
Sitkowski (not injury related) will remain the Rutgers' football program following new Head Coach, Greg Schiano's, first time speaking with the team Monday, James Kratch of nj.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sitkowski started 11 games for the team in 2018 and was the front-runner to lead the offense heading into this season until he lost the starting job to incoming graduate transfer, McLane Carter. Carter suffered a concussion in just the second game of the season which catapulted Sitkowski back into a starting role. With the program's decision to fire both Coach Chris Ash and Offensive Coordinator John McNulty after the team's loss to Michigan on Sept. 29, Sitkowski opted to voluntarily redshirt due to his uncertainty level with the program and the plans of interim Head Coach Nunzio Campanile. Rutgers recently hired Schiano over the weekend and now Sitkowski is back on board with the team and Schiano's plans for the future. With that being said, Sitkowski will still have three years of eligibility remaining and should be the frontrunner to be the team's starting quarterback next fall.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Despite the return of both Gio Rescigno and Johnathan Lewis from last season's quarterback group, Sitkowski -- an early enrollee -- is likely best positioned for the starting role entering fall camp after a strong showing during the spring. Sitkowski easily possesses the best talent among the trio as a passer, and, although he hasn't been officially named the starter for Week 1, it would be an upset if he wasn't. Sophomore Bo Melton, a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, figures to serve as a reliable option for him at wideout, but Sitkowski and the Scarlet Knights will face some tough defenses in a loaded Big Ten East division.
