Sam Howell
2020 Fantasy Outlook
Howell is looking to build on an impressive freshman season that saw him throw for 3,641 yards and 38 touchdowns. How can he improve those totals as a sophomore? By being more efficient, as he completed "just" 61.4 percent of his throws, ranking a moderate 54th nationally. Howell will have a full complement of weapons to target, as the Heels return their top two leading rushers and top five receivers, led by a dynamic duo of Dazz Newsome and Dyami Brown, both of whom topped 1,000 yards and scored at least 10 times in 2019. Beau Corrales' 6-foot-4 frame gives Howell a bigger receiver to target inside the 20, and another year in the system with returning weapons suggests we haven't seen the best from Howell yet. He tossed multiple scores in every game last season, making him a consistent weekly option who could flirt or eclipse 40 TDs in 2020. Read Past Outlooks
Four TDs caps brilliant season
December 28, 2019
Howell completed 25-of-34 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns Friday against Temple in the Military Bowl, adding 53 yards rushing and a two-yard touchdown catch.
The outing caps a fantastic freshman season that not many saw coming in August. Howell had multiple touchdown passes in every game during the year, finishing with 3,641 yards and 38 touchdowns throwing only seven INTs in the process. With most of his weapons back next year, Howell is going to be a very valuable fantasy commodity.
