Luke Doty
2021 Fantasy Outlook
Doty is the de facto starter for the Gamecocks heading into the 2021 season after Collin Hill’s departure and Ryan Hilinski’s transfer to Northwestern. Doty appeared sparingly until the end of his freshman campaign, completing 60.6-percent of his passes for 405 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He can also be elusive and does have dual-threat ability. Doty will have arguably the top running back in the conference to lean on in the form of Kevin Smith, though the wide receiving corps will be extremely green. New head coach Shane Beamer will have his work cut out for him, but the relative success or failure of the program early on may hinge on Doty. That’s a lot of pressure. Read Past Outlooks
Ends up seeing majority of snaps
September 19, 2021
Doty (foot) completed 13-of-26 throws for153 yards, one touchdown and one interception Saturday at Georgia.
ANALYSIS
Doty did not start the contest but quickly entered the game for Zeb Noland, who performed admirably in prior weeks but would have clearly been overmatched in this contest. Still, Doty could not get much going against a stout Georgia defense. He should find a bit more success against Kentucky next weekend, as perhaps most importantly Doty appears fully healthy now.
