December 22, 2013
Carr completed 29-of-54 passes for a season-low 217 yards, two touchdowns and one interceptions in Saturday's 45-20 loss to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Carr had an unbelievable year with 5,083 yards, 50 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. However, USC did a great job of limiting what he could do which could have an effect on his draft grade. Nonetheless, Carr will be a quarterback in the NFL and most likely picked in the first couple of rounds.

Carr will enter the year as Fresno State's backup quarterback, but look for him to become starter at some point. Colburn isn't especially convincing and didn't look good against formidable opponents last year, while Carr completed 10-of-14 passes for 112 yards in limited action as a freshman. He's worth keeping an eye on. Yes, he's David Carr's brother.
Yes, he is the younger brother of David. So the expectations will be high for the younger Carr in his first season as starter. But big numbers shouldn't be expected, both because Fresno is unproven at wideout and because the team runs a run-heavy, pro-style scheme. If Carr proves to be anywhere near as good as his older brother, though, you can expect Fresno to suddenly become much more interested in throwing the ball.
Fresno State is switching from a pro-style offense to more of a spread system, but it shouldn't change much for Carr, who has the passing ability to be a good fit for either offense. He showed promise in his first year as a starter in 2011, throwing for 3,544 yards (7.9 YPA), 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions while running for three more touchdowns. His upside, though, is limited by the departure of star receiver Jalen Saunders, who transferred to Oklahoma after totaling 1,065 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 50 catches (21.3 YPC) in 2011. Still, with standout talent and a favorable schedule, Carr should post big numbers this year.
The brother of David was huge for the second year in a row in 2012, going over the 4,100-yard mark as a passer while throwing 37 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 13 games. That's even more impressive when you consider that he spent Fresno's bowl game getting crushed by SMU end Margus Hunt on seemingly half of the plays. Carr could in any case be even more active as a passer in 2013, because Fresno State doesn't seem to have a replacement for 282-carry running back Robbie Rouse. The results should be very good, as Davante Adams, Josh Harper and Isaiah Burse are an elite trio of receivers.
