Joins Coach Prime in Boulder
Mata announced Dec. 27 via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to Colorado, joining the program as a transfer from FCS Jackson State.

Mata is one of multiple Jackson State players who opted to follow Deion Sanders to Boulder after Sanders was named the Buffaloes' new head coach in December. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Mata is expected to battle Arizona State transfer Jace Feely for the top spot on the depth chart at kicker. Mata handled placekicking duties as a true freshman at Jackson State in 2022, converting on 12 of 13 field-goal attempts and 50 of 51 extra-point tries.
