To skip Sun Bowl
December 17, 2018
Love announced via his personal Twitter account that he won't play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl against Pittsburgh on Dec. 31 in order to begin his training for the 2019 NFL Draft,
ANALYSIS
With Stanford set to play in a low-stakes bowl game, Love has made the decision to start his preparation for the next level. After rushing for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2017, he suffered through an injury-plagued campaign in his senior season. Love missed three games with various ailments and was held to just 739 yards and six touchdowns over 10 matchups in 2018. He'll turn his focus to becoming 100 percent healthy for the NFL Combine with the hope of increasing his draft stock.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
Love needs no introduction after averaging 8.05 yards per carry over 263 carries to become Stanford's latest 2,000-yard rusher. He's the best big-play threat in college, having set an NCAA record with 13 runs of at least 50 yards in 2017. Love also gets the luxury of running behind an offensive line littered with four- and five-star talent. The only question here is durability. While an ankle injury only caused him to miss one game, it bothered Love down the stretch. If Love is healthy for 12 games, he'll be the odds-on favorite to lead the nation in rushing.
Love is undersized for a running back at 5-10, 190, but he can outrun almost anyone and should prove an admirable successor to Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey's decision to sit out Stanford's bowl game against North Carolina gave Love a dress rehearsal for the 2017 season, and he went on to run for 119 yards (5.7 YPC) while catching a 49-yard touchdown pass. There will be no proper McCaffrey imitations here – Love is too light to take on that kind of workload – but his uncommon speed makes him an intriguing fit in what is annually a strong rushing offense.
