McDowell will enter the season as the backup to David Fluellen. The junior rushed for 372 yards on 77 carries last season and, at 5-foot-9, 180, provides a more of a scatback presence to counter Fluellen’s between-the-tackles style.

McDowell is a player to draft late in MAC-only leagues and keep a close eye on in other formats. The undersized runner was moved from wideout this offseason and headed into the fall as the team's second-ranked running back. With David Fluellen serving as the team's top power back, McDowell could carve out a significant role as a pass catcher and big-play threat.
