Moves on from Kansas State
Newton was removed from the Kansas State roster Sept. 30 and has since entered the NCAA's transfer portal, Ryan Black of The Manhattan Mercury reports.
ANALYSIS
Newton will move on from Kansas State for a second time after initially joining the Wildcats as a member of the 2018 signing class. After taking a redshirt that year, the defensive tackle moved on to JUCO program Butler Community College, logging 69 stops -- including 19.5 for losses -- to go with six sacks and four forced fumbles. He then re-signed with Kansas State as part of the 2020 class, but Newton opted to leave the program two games into the season, during which he recorded one tackle. Newton will have two years remaining at his next stop, unless the NCAA grants him a waiver for an extra year in light of his abbreviated 2020 campaign.
