2019 NFL Draft bound
November 23, 2018
Metcalf will forgo his redshirt junior season and enter the 2019 NFL Draft, Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The uber-talented Metcalf has been sidelined since October with a neck injury, but he is set to be medically cleared for football activities by Jan. 22, which will allow him to be a full participant in the pre-draft process. Though his on-field production does not match that of teammate A.J. Brown, Metcalf is believed by many to be the more NFL-ready player based on his frame and athleticism. Metcalf's injury history will be heavily scrutinized in the predraft process, but he has a chance to be one of the top receivers off the board in a class that is lacking in terms of true No.1 receiver types.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
After an injury-shortened first season at Mississippi, Metcalf broke out in 2017 for 39 receptions for 646 yards (16.6 YPR) and seven touchdowns. Although A.J. Brown figures to remain the star of the show for the Rebels at wideout after a monster year, Metcalf and DaMarkus Lodge should serve as key cogs at receiver within one of the most pass-heavy offenses in the SEC (35.5 pass attempts per game). Metcalf could serve as a middle of the road fantasy option for the upcoming season, although he has the skill set to become a top-tier player with a 6-foot-4, 225-pound build that makes him a red zone nightmare.
