Going to NFL
Undisclosed
January 4, 2022
Rivers announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Fresno State to enter the 2022 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Rivers' declaration isn't too surprising, given that he previously elected to sit out the Bulldogs' New Mexico Bowl win over UTEP in December. During his final season in Fresno, Rivers carried 162 times for 788 yards and five touchdowns and added 34 grabs for 364 yards and two scores on 47 targets. At just 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds, Rivers profiles as more of a change-of-pace option than a three-down back at the next level.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
Rivers is the engine of the Bulldog offense. Not only did he command a 47 percent share of the carries in 2020, he also had a reliable share of the passing game by drawing 14 percent of the targets. Extrapolated over a 12-game season, Rivers would have had over 1,000 rushing yards and over 50 catches. Fresno State brings back a high percentage of its offense and has an experienced quarterback, so teams won’t be able to sell out to stop Rivers. With Rivers carrying the run game and being so involved as a pass catcher, he’s a high-floor player with major PPR upside.
Rivers has been steadily getting touches since he was a freshman in 2017, and his numbers have steadily gotten better in that time. His best campaign so far came in 2019, when he rushed for 899 yards and 13 touchdowns. As a junior, he also added 43 catches for 352 yards and three scores. The touchdowns are great, but there are concerns about a player heading into his senior season without a 1,000-yard campaign to his name. The Bulldogs are bringing in a new starting quarterback and no running back behind Rivers has more than four career receptions. This could be Rivers’ chance to have over 200 carries in a season.
