Smenda was ejected for targeting on a hit against Rutgers QB Gavin Wimsatt during the Gator Bowl and that caused him to miss the season opener, but as expected, he was a key cog on defense as soon as he stepped on the field as the Demon Deacons didn't have problems getting past the Commodores.
