Impressive work in Title Game
January 9, 2018
Michel had 14 carries for 98 yards in Monday's loss to Alabama in the National Championship game.
ANALYSIS
Michel was easily Georgia's most effective back Monday, which made his lack of usage in crunch time all the more confounding. He ripped off 7.0 yards per carry while falling just shy of the century mark. Still, it was an impressive final season for Michel, who drastically improved his draft stock compared to where it was a year ago. He posted career bests in yards (1,227), touchdowns, (16) and yards per carry (7.9) and now has a chance to be one of the first running backs off the board in April's draft.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
With Michel and backfield mate Nick Chubb back in the fold, Georgia has one of the scariest and most experienced backfield tandems in the nation. While a fully healthy Chubb will command the lion's share of the carries, 2016 showed that Michel can coexist with him in the backfield and produce viable fantasy numbers. Michel commanded 152 carries and averaged 5.53 yards per carry, but it's his pass catching ability that sets him apart coming into 2017. Not only is Michel a receiving threat out of the backfield (26 Tar, 22 Rec, 149 Yds in 2016), but his skill set coupled with Georgia's thin and inexperienced receiving corps could result in him splitting out wide in certain situations. Again, Chubb figures to get the bulk of the carries and red zone opportunities, but Michel will still see his fare share of carries in addition to racking up an elite number of receptions for a running back.
Michel took the torch as Georgia’s lead back last season after Nick Chubb’s devastating knee injury, and he proved to be more than up to the task. He only averaged 8.2 carries per game through the first five weeks of the year, but he was ripping off 6.73 yards per carry in that stretch. After Chubb went down against Tennessee, Michel carried the load for the remaining eight games, running for 885 yards on 178 carries (4.97 YPC) to go with four touchdowns. Although those numbers down the stretch aren’t other-worldly, they’re solid and they must be considered in context given that defenses would load up the box and dare Georgia to throw for much of the season. With Chubb likely sidelined or limited early in the season, Michel looked primed to carry the load for the Bulldogs starting in Week 1, but a compound fracture in his forearm suffered in early July complicates the running back situation in Athens even further. Although Michel’s injury won’t limit him the same way Chubb’s does once it’s healed, the fact that
