Simpson announced Wednesday that he'll sit out Clemson's Dec. 30 Orange Bowl game against Tennessee and begin preparations for the 2023 NFL Draft, Jordan Reid of ESPN.com reports.

Simpson concludes his collegiate career with 166 tackles, 12 sacks and five passes defensed across the last three seasons. The North Carolina native provides prospective NFL clubs with an ideal 6-foot-3, 240-pound frame for a linebacker, not to mention his 4.39-second 40-yard-dash time and 35-inch vertical leap. He suffered an ankle injury in Clemson's ACC Championship Game win over North Carolina, but he should be healthy enough to work out at the NFL Scouting Combine.
