Taylor started the World Cup with a bang but finished it with a whimper. A 98 not out against Australia looked promising, but like the rest of his team, the remainder of the tournament was a disaster.
ANALYSIS
The diminutive right hander averaged 37.25 in the World Cup, which is just above his career average of 35.14. It was slightly inflated due to one good knock followed by five very ordinary innings of a duck, 17, 25, one and eight not out. Having made his debut in 2011, Taylor has only played 17 ODIs, and his lack of usage in the format has translated to Tests, as he isn't on the English squad to tour the West Indies at the completion of the World Cup.
