Mills has retired from all forms of cricket, ESPN Cric Info reports.
ANALYSIS
Earning a World Cup roster spot for the third time in Mills' career didn't translate to an appearance in the recent tournament. The 36-year-old fast bowler was merely present to act as depth, but when fellow seamer Adam Milne (heel) was lost for the tournament after New Zealand's quarterfinal win versus the West Indies, the team opted to hand newcomer Matt Henry the role of third pacer. Mills completes his career second all-time on the Black Caps' ODI wicket list, as he downed 240 for 27.02, while surrendering 4.72 runs per over in 169 innings. In addition to residing among the Top 10 ODI bowlers often in his career, he took 44 additional wickets in 19 Tests, as well as 43 across 42 T20 Internationals.
