Mupariwa smashed his way to 18 off just seven balls in a valiant effort to get Zimbabwe across the line Saturday, but fell just short, holing out with three balls remaining to give Ireland the crucial victory at Bellerive Oval. He was the most economical of the bowlers, conceding 56 runs off his 10 overs, but went wicket-less.
ANALYSIS
This sort of electric hitting belies his career strike rate of just 58.28, and it's the first time we've seen it in this tournament, with his other appearance at the crease yielding a second-ball duck against Pakistan. Mupariwa has taken just one wicket in the World Cup, while conceding 92 runs over his two appearances so far, but he has been economical, going at just 5.11 runs per over. Whether he remains in the lineup for the last game remains to be seen, but a repeat of this sort of hitting would appear to be far fetched.
