ANALYSIS
New head coach Todd Bowles said after the game that Jarrett missed the contest with a bruised shoulder, NJ.com reports. With safety Antonio Allen (Achilles) out for the season, he’s competing for a starting safety spot with the team, but he'll need to get back on the field to improve his chances.

Throughout the 2014 season Jarrett proved he can provide value to the Jets' secondary, finishing the year with a career-high 40 tackles to go along with 1.5 sacks, two passes defensed, two picks, and one forced fumble in 14 games. He's slated to back-up Marcus Gilchrist at safety during the 2015 season.
Jarrett is expected to backup Dawan Landry at strong safety.
Jarrett has disappointed since the Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2011 draft, but he'll likely make the roster this year.
Jarrett's ranking depends on the Eagles declining to re-sign Quintin Mikell, as well as Jarrett, the team's 2011 second-round draft pick, beating out Kurt Coleman for the starting strong safety spot. The Eagles no doubt view Jarrett as a starter, and Jarrett’s big-hitting skill set is just what the Eagles needed to add next to cover safety Nate Allen. With Allen playing center field, Jarrett should be expected to play in the box, where he’ll be in good position to make big hits and help out against the run.
