Vincent was released by the Redskins on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
It could be the end of a solid 15-year career for the former star at Wisconsin. Vincent could receive an offer to go to training camp and compete for a spot and provide some veteran leadership in 2007, but his days as a Pro-Bowl caliber defensive back are well behind him.

Vincent is entering his 15th NFL season, so he's starting to slow down a bit. On the good side, he's pretty much exclusively a safety now, which means more IDP stats, and he may be counted on to do even more with Lawyer Milloy moving on. Vincent did have four interceptions last season, so he's probably worth putting deep on your radar for maybe one more season. He won't be at it much longer, as he's also a bright guy with a nice future after he decides to call it quits. Even as a safety, if you do pick him it's mostly for the 4-5 interceptions you hope he can give you, and the tackles should be just OK.
Vincent, entering his 14th year, will play safety this season after playing the final four games at the position in 2004 following his recovery from a knee injury. Vincent's range, ball skills (career 43 interceptions) and experience make him a natural for quarterbacking the secondary, and he has vowed to make the Pro Bowl as a free safety after going five times as a cornerback. He's a little up there in age to be an elite IDP, but he's smart and talented enough to give you some production if you can sneak him late, realizing he'll put up safety stats now instead of the typically less productive cornerback numbers.
Vincent, the starting left CB who will take over Antoine Winfield's (Vikings) old role, has played in several Pro Bowls and is still one of the better CBs in the league, though a decline due to age is probably on the way soon. He can stop the run and has averaged around 70 tackles per year for the past three years. He's not as good a tackler as Winfield (one of the best corner tacklers in football), but Vincent should be able to improve upong Winfield's poor pick totals. His leadership will also help the Buffalo defense.
