The Bears signed Colbert to their practice squad Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Colbert will return to Chicago, with whom he appeared in two games over the past two seasons prior to being released in August. He will provide an insurance option at safety, though he might end up seeing most of his snaps on special teams if he's elevated from the practice squad.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Colbert had tons of responsibility as a rookie and played in 14 games, producing 37 tackles and five pass breakups. He's projected to be the Week 1 starter now, so he could jump into the 80-tackle territory and be a legitimate IDP asset. Still, playing as the starting free safety versus the situational role he had last year is a big jump, so fantasy owners should be careful not to reach for Colbert.

Colbert signed with the Bears' practice squad on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Eddie Jackson suffered what could be a season-ending injury to his foot in Week 12, leaving the Bears thin at safety. Colbert will help fill that need, though it's unclear how prepared he may be for a significant role given that he has yet to play in 2022. He did appear in seven games in 2021, racking up 16 tackles with both the Browns and Jets.
