Fletcher projects as the third tight end behind Dallas Clark and Ben Utecht. He saw limited action last season, although he was a productive fill-in for the Colts when Clark missed several weeks near the end of the season with an injury. Clark’s proneness to injury should ensure that Fletcher receives more opportunities than the typical No. 3 tight end, but unless both Clark and Utecht go down he’s a long shot to make a significant impact from week-to-week.
After two successful seasons in NFL Europe playing for Berlin, Fletcher signed with the Colts to replace Marcus Pollard. A skilled pass-catcher, Fletcher made his mark by scoring touchdowns in three straight games last season in Weeks 11-13. He’s slightly built (6-5, 230) for a TE, but is a good fit in a Colts system that doesn’t require its tight ends to be third tackles, and is only a Dallas Clark injury away from a significant role with the team.
Fletcher, who has been mostly used as blocking tight end, will compete for the No. 2 TE job.
Buried deep on the TE depth chart, he's not likely to see a lot of action.
