Brooks Bollinger

Bollinger is slated to be the backup quarterback in Minnesota behind Tarvaris Jackson. Bollinger missed out a chance to take control as the starter last year, when he injured his shoulder after replacing the ineffective Brad Johnson. Jackson took control and remained the starter as Bollinger struggled to recover from his injury. Bollinger was 13-for-18 with 146 yards and an interception in his time last year. Jackson isn't exactly a superstar, so Bollinger will have an oppotunity to take the job in camp or during the season if Jackson struggles.

He did a passable job when pressed into action last year, putting up a 72.9 QB rating despite a very mediocre supporting cast around him. Nonetheless the Jets view Bollinger as a spare part and not a quarterback of the future, and there's no guarantee he'll make the roster with Chad Pennington coming back, Patrick Ramsey new in town, and Kellen Clemens fresh out of the draft. Grab a clipboard, son.

With Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler ahead of him on the depth chart, he is unlikely to see any action.

Now that Vinny Testaverde has finally rolled out of town, Bollinger will be one of Chad Pennington's backup in 2004.

Bollinger was the 200th overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. He will be groomed to replace Vinny Testaverde as Chad Pennington's backup down the road, but for now, most of his touches will be of the clipboard variety.
