The Falcons figured Hutchins would start at corner in 2008, but a Lis Franc fracture ended his season well before it ever started. Now the Falcons have at least five formidable young prospects competing at the position, including three with starting experience from last year (Chris Houston, Chevis Jackson and Brent Grimes) and two 2009 draft picks (third rounder Chris Owens and fifth rounder William Middleton). Even if Hutchins rises above this infusion of talent, there's no guarantee he will be effective, as he was known as a cover-2 corner before the dreaded Lis Franc injury and his recovery speed might be even worse now.

Hutchins recorded 95 tackles as a member of the Texans in 2007, and will have to outplay Brent Grimes and David Irons in training camp to earn the starting left cornerback spot in 2008.

Hutchins will be way down the depth chart when training camp opens.
