March 5, 2012
The Ravens cut Foxworth (knee) on Monday, BaltimoreRavens.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Foxworth could be brought back on a cheaper contract, but his compromised knee health means he's unlikely to get more than a minimal investment from a team.

Foxworth could be reliable starter at corner if only he could shake off the injury bug. He has had trouble staying on the field in training camp, however, and can't be considered a safe IDP option.
Foxworth is the only certain starter at cornerback with Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb still working their way back from injuries and Chris Carr unlikely to factor in beyond nickel and dime situations. Foxworth finished with 53 tackles and four interceptions last season, but many feel he underperformed considering his contract and the Ravens' susceptibility to the long ball.
Foxworth signed a four-year deal in February to become the Ravens' lockdown corner following the retirement of Chris McAlister. The Ravens love to employ aggressive fronts, leaving the secondary free to make plays. Last season the Ravens led the league with 26 interceptions. Expect Foxworth to be a beneficiary of the Baltimore's attack-first mentality and finish with much better numbers than the one interception and 11 pass deflections he had in Atlanta last season.
Foxworth will be the primary backup to Dre Bly.
Foxworth is a talented enough cornerback that he would be starter on most teams, and after Darrent Williams' tragic death, it looked like Foxworth would finally get that chance. However, the Broncos then dealt Tatum Bell to the Lions in exchange for Dre Bly, so Foxworth will settle back into his role as the team's nickleback. Foxworth also played some safety last year when the team was suffering from key defensive injuries, so he is a versatile player who is valuable to the Broncos, but barring injuries, has very little fantasy value.
Foxworth is expected to battle incumbent Darrent Williams for the starting right cornerback job, but it looks like Williams will win the job. Williams is better in run support, so he likely will start, but Foxworth should see plenty of playing time in the nickel package the Broncos plan to use often.
The rookie cornerback should compete for playing time in the team's nickel and dime packages.
