Ford appears to be the current successor to the starting defensive end position, but has plenty of competition at this point and may not remain as starter for long. He should see a fair amount of snaps in passing situations as he led the Titans last year with five and a half sacks in 2009.
Ford showed impressive pass-rushing ability in 2008, but will find himself as a third string defensive end in 2009. He will still get plenty of downs to play in a defensive line rotation.
Ford was hurt all of last season, but the Titans are hoping he can be a pass rushing specialist. With the departure of Travis Laboy and Antwan Odom and Javon Kearse not getting any younger, Ford has a chance to play in 2008.
Ford has a lot of speed at the defensive end position and will have every opportunity to get playing time for the Titans. The Titans are looking for a complimentary pass rusher to Kyle Vanden Bosch and are hopeful that Ford can be that guy.
